Does anyone out there have accurate par and distance info for Blue Mountain? The info at DGCR does not match the signs that are currently up at the course...

Thanks!

pars and distance

I hear there are some accurate numbers out there. Commander had then at one point (a couple fellows with a range finder and a flag, I heard). I've always thought the posted distance numbers felt pretty close.

The white course has six marked par 4s (4, 7, 10, 11, 13 and 16) for a par of 60, the blue course has no marked par and is typically played as par 54 (although a 56 is way more freaking accurate).

Pars

Thanks for sharing those distances!!!

For clarification, the Blue course is a par 60 with the above holes as par 4's and the white course is a par 54, but could/should be a 56 - 58 with holes 10, 11, 13, 16 as par 4's. Pretty sure U4ik has stats from Bag Tags for all the holes. Maybe he can give us some real numbers to use for pars.

I'm almost positive that the white tee at 7 is marked par 4. 16 from the whites is marked as a 3, though imho it should definitely be a 4.

thanks

great clarification, BB. Can I quote this comfortably? That is different from what is currently marked, but I like it and will happily make the argument for it if anyone is interested.

I finally got around to

I finally got around to adding paths, icons, and labels to the Google Map I made for Blue, for what it's worth. The points are as accurate as GPS gets (~15ft, I think?), and hand corrected where I could. If 'official' distances are paced / walked off, the distances calculated here by Google will be noticeably shorter since they're point-to-point (teepad to basket); I'm pretty sure this sort of distance calculation (via aerial photography) doesn't account for elevation changes, either.

It's not too bad if you use the right software - I turned on My Tracks for Android while I played a round to rough out the locations of the teeboxes, baskets, and general path, then exported all of that into Google Maps. I cleaned it up using their web interface and then added icons / paths for each of the individual tees. All in all I'd say it was maybe about an hour of work.

Sup Holotone, I'm not sure who you actually are, as it's not specified in your profile, but I'm Bob, the current webmaster for this site. Please introduce yourself to me at bagtags or the first club meeting if you go. You seem to have interest in helping and improving our clubs exposure and resources, which is very welcome. Noticed your occupation is web development, which is similar to what I do (database and minor web dev @ bobwards.com), which makes me want to ask where you work at, if you're comfortable telling us. Hope to meet you soon. Peace

I just updated the map for Blue Mountain with numbered icons for each of the tee boxes:

Sometime this week I hope to get photos from each of the tees and baskets to add to the placemark popups. If anyone has other photos / videos of Blue to contribute, feel free to let me know here.

See y'all tonight!
