I hope you will join us on June 23rd to celebrate the life and memory of Ralph Stever at the disc golf festival that is the Timberbeast Challenge. This event has been the highest attended tourney in MT for the last 5 years and I expect that tradition to continue this year!! The Timberbeast Challenge is once again part of the MT Points Series, too. There is a whole group of people up in Troy working hard to keep this festival/tournament alive and growing. We are working on sponsorship for the Junior division so that kids will be able to play for as cheap (or Free!!!) as possible.
The locals have been working hard to make the course look it's best. They've also been working on realigning hole 10 (the 1 with the tee pad in the middle of hole 9's fairway). Sounds like it will be a much longer hole. Can't wait to see it!!
Ralph passed away this winter after a brief battle with cancer. He was one of the main people responsible for getting the Timberbeast course installed and it has been his vision - and hard work - that has made the Timberbeast Challenge one of, if not the, best DG events in the State. I'm not sure that Ralph ever played a full round of DG, but he has influenced soooooo many others to pick up a disc and start playing through his after school programs his positive attitude. His legacy lives on not only in the Timberbeast course and event, but also as the father of DG in the NW corner of our state. Think back to 2005/6 when the Timberbeast was installed. Had you ever been to Troy? Or even heard of it? Now it's a very highly anticipated trip to head to Troy every year. And you can add Libby as an extension of that, too. And the Knucknees' Basin course in Hotsprings has the old Timberbeast baskets, so that is another branch of the DG tree that grew from Ralph. He was always working on a events to enrich and bring people to the community of Troy, and I think he was successful!!! He will be missed but his legacy will live on through the Timberbeast!!

That's sad to hear about Ralph. I meant to ask you about it in Libby. Missed the Beast last year but should be able to make it this year and help Ralph's mission continue. This is a great event - Ralph will be missed by many.
Super stoked to play this event!!
When and where will registration be available?
Super stoked as well, threw at 50% for the first time in 3 weeks and hope to be in action for this one!
Online Reg should be up very soon. Please pre-reg if you can. Should have more info by the end of the weekend.
Sweet! Thanks for the info Brian. I was just beginning to wonder. I will be getting Carrie and I signed up soon. I may play open though just so I can be in the same pool as her.
Online Reg is finally available on the homepage of this site. PLEASE Pre-reg!!!!!!!! This has been MT's highest attended event for the past 6 years, and we are expecting well over 100 again this year. If you can't pre reg, please be there Friday to pre-reg.
The locals have been busy tweaking the course a little... Hole 10 will be completely different than in previous years. (hole 10's tee pad was previously in the middle of hole 9's fairway). The tee for 10 has been changed to make a completely different hole that plays close to 400' long through a very tight window. Haven't seen it, yet, but have heard it is birdie-able... I've heard runors of a couple temp holes for the tourney, too. They'll be out in the next week weed whacking and generally preparing the course for all of us, so be sure to let them know how much you appreciate the work they're doing for us!!!!!
Camping will once again be FREE in Roosevelt Park. Food vendors will be set up there Saturday night and "Back Adit" will be the band providing the dancing music for the evening.
Callahan Creek, the creek near holes 1 and 5, is flowing pretty high right now, so that will make things interesting...
Getting excited!!!
signed up, have to make it now! Really excited about my first time to Troy. Bringing the kids, so I may not win the party, but boy am I fired up
We have a cabin reserved
Cannot wait!!
Super stoked for this event-missed it last year and that ain't gonna happen again!
Lookin to carpool from the Bozeman area for this event. Anyone interested?
Tryin to leave early on Friday morning in time to get a round in the afternoon. Need to be back in bozeman by Sunday night.
Thanks!!
There has been a slight change to the Pool assignments. The Rec Men have been moved to Pool B and the Adv Grandmasters have been moved to Pool A. I have edited the post above. This should be the only change to the Pool schedule.
Great to hear that so mny people are bringing their families and kids with them to the Disc Golf Festival that is the Timberbeast!!!! This is definitly a family friendly event with lots for the kids to do in Roosevelt Park, such as a splash park, skate park, paved bike trail, fishing pond, soccer and baseball fields to go along with the music and food vendors on Saturday night. Lots to do for the whole family around Troy, too!!!! The Swinging Bridge over the Kootenai Falls is only about 10 miles from Troy east on HWY 2 and is a great experience!! Ross Creek Cedars are only about 20 miles from Troy south on HWY 56. Take a nature walk amongst cedar trees that are 1000's of years old and are incredibly HUGE!!!! The kids will love being able to actually walk inside some of these trees!
Discs Across the Kootenai!!!!!!!!!!!! Once again the DAK will be happpening on Saturday nite after the Awards. We will try to coordinate with the band to be able to announce the names of who is throwing to add a little more flare this year to what is always a good time! 3 throws for $5 again this year and I think there will be added cash for that event, too.
Be sure to bring a basket or 2 with to warm up on as the course will be closed all day Saturday for play. A LED disc or 2 are always fun in the park after dark on Saturday, too!
As always, due to the size of the field at the Beast, we offer many divisions that aren't recognized by the MT POints Series, so for MT Points purposes ONLY, the Adv Grandmasters and Senior Grandmasters will be lumped in with the Pro Grandmasters for MT POints. Also, all the wiomen's divisions, with the exception of Rec Women, will be lumped together as 1 big Women's diviion for MT POints ONLY.
Please pre-reg!!!!! If you cannot pre-reg, please make arrangements to be there Friday afternoon or evening to get signed up. The more people who pre-reg, the smoother the event will be!!! I'll be at the course from 3:30 - 8:00 or so Friday to register people.
Where are these cabins??? I've talked to a couple of people who have rented cabins about 2 minutes from the course. Please share as I'm sure more people would be interested in renting one, too.
Wish I were in Troy sitting on the banks of the Kootenai already!!!!!
