We NEED baskets!!

As mentioned before we will be needing baskets!!!! fabric or metal bring them all. there is still snow on some of the roads that supply the course so light weight will be good for some of the longer hauls. This is a BIG course you will be putting on some miles over the weekend for sure!!

Here is a sneak peek of hole 5 shot from the pin location:

There will be markings, either balloons or paper plates on stakes leading your way up to the course/parking area Friday AM. Please shout out if you are planning on getting out to the course before Noon on Friday, and if you are planning on bringing baskets, will be good to get those out on the course as soon as possible. There is decent cell coverage from the high points in the course. The parking lot has pretty good coverage too. The entire drive up to the corse there is no coverage FYI.

There will be milage postings here later for added directions to the course. Please make sure you zero out your "trip" at the gas station as you get on to the gravel road. There is a labyrinth of intersections leading up to the course so it will be good to have a couple of ways to get there Wink

would be advised to stock up snacks, water, beverages, etc at the gas station on your way up. The road is steep in sections and kinda rutted out in others, seems a "car" with decent tires/traction will be able to make it up no problem, trucks/SUV's easily done.

Baskets

I will be heading out with a truck load of zoo inhabitants Friday about 1pm. I know we will have at least 2 baskets(both heavy) so send the cloth ones out to the back 40.

maps maps maps

the above post has 3 different maps. the first is the PDF driving instructions from the gas station. !! zero out your Trip at the gas station to make it easier to find!!

the second is an image of the google map when you click it it will enlarge to a printable size.
You can download this and view it in a pic viewer and it will be larger than what your browser will display.

third one is the "good stuff" this is a full google map overlay of the corse where you can get distances and hole by hole descriptions.

enjoy!!

Thanks again for all those that will be bringing baskets along too. I will be out at the course early on Friday getting them in place. The camping area higher up on the map is the best place to "drop" baskets just over the fence (will be marked).

I noticed on the google map,

I noticed on the google map, there is still a designated "CAMPING" zone.. is that true? or is that on the Swards family ranch, thus no camping there???

Camp Zones near the course

Yo Bobd,
If you are referring to the map right above on this page, yes you are right, there IS a camping zone... and it IS available (as in not on the ranch land). The PDF file that Cary is referring to, also delineates one other camping zone. Please just keep it outside the fenced area, and it should all be good.

If any questions about it there, I'm sure someone will be able to direct traffic for you on both Fri and Sat. Enjoy.

Plus, for others interested, I noticed that the parking area in Norris Hot Springs, has 6 parking areas that could easily house two friendly camp spots each.. making 12 available. And Norris Hot Springs is only 10-15 minutes from the course. Not to mention 10-15 minutes east of Norris, is the Red Mountain Camp ground which is sweet.

Friday

I will be out at the course early on Friday to finish any last tweaks and drop any baskets in place as they come in. Everything is coming together rather nicely... now we just need to hope for the best weather. If it continues to rain and snow all this week (which it looks like it could) there might be at least one tricky spot on the road getting to the course. Mid way there is a steep winding hill that if greasy, might be difficult to get up with out 4-wheel-D. Just to remind... there is almost no cell service from the gas station to the course... coverage is fine at the course but not until you are right there Wink Look for the ribbon/flagging along the fence line of the "top" camping area for dropping baskets to be brought onto the course. If you plan to camp you might want to bring along some wood. there is none up there...
