Finger$ Cro$$ed

Doug (Moto1) tells me that he may be able to make it up there Saturday, however, for nearly two weeks he has been by his wife's side in the ICU at the Hospital. Thank goodness, she is nearly out of the hospital, but not quite. So please send them some more well wishes in Spirit.

Understandably, he may not be able to make it, but it would be great to see him there, as I'm sure it would be great for him to take in that fresh air, and to see the DG fellowship of you all.

Looks like the weather will part just in time!! storm should break today and will start to clear up... a bit. Sat is looking like we will have overcast skies and high pressure which means the course will be playing great!!
Get ready for a unique course experience with 360?breath taking views and challenging (air) fairways and elevated approaches. Hole 15 is coming in at a little over 800' with fall away on the entire left hand side and a protected, elevated green..... swwweeeeet!! Hole 5 will be the "grumpy old man" with fallaway, rollback, burl and a bad wrap around x10!! Might be a little muddy in spots on friday but should dry up when the storm breaks.

As stated before please bring any baskets you can, canvas or metal. Thanks and hope to see you all on Friday or Sat morn!. Brandon will be out on Friday to do any pre Reg for the event.

If you are coming up on Friday please be careful getting up the main road, it might be a little slow going with the recent precip. We will be marking the way up to the course Friday AM with either paper plates or balloons on stakes. Just remember you will go over two cattle guards then take your first left... (there are a bunch of intersection roads up there that all peel off to the left) the next intersection you come to you will take the center of 3 options. That road will take you directly to the the main gate. You can camp at that main gate access or up along side the fence line which is much closer to the course. See ya all soon!!

quote thingy a lil off- all the above is cary^

straight thru bozo on main will become huffine & straight thru at 4corners will become the road to norris, go past hot springs to where it "T"'s into the big road and go across it onto the dirt (think its straight across there(?)) then follow above from cary... or stay on 90 to belgrade to south jackrabbit lane to 4corners & take a right to norris... or stay on 90 even longer to 3forks down thru harrison and consult the maps posted earlier in this thread

Just got word from the Porta Potty delivery guy.

A link to Directions are in a post earlier by Hyzerbomber.. (but yes we intend on getting signs up) Please see
http://nrdga.com/tourny/SwardsRanchLocation2.pdf

For general Highway directions, please see this map http://www.nrdga.com/tourny/map-to-ranchLG.png

Travel Update:
Early today, the porta potty delivery guy called to say he couldn't go the last mile, from where the road turns left (at 6.2 miles from the Norris Gas Station).. due to the snow from Sunday thru today. So no porta potty.(we have a back up plan)

..But I guess the good news is... the #$%%$#$!! SNOW has finally stopped-as forecasted.. and hopefully is melting now. Give it the rest of today.. and all day tomorrow..and hopefully the roads will be passable the whole way there.

I will report back tomorrow (Friday), as a group of us plan to be up there in the early a.m., and I need to be back in Bozeman by 3:30 p.m.. So look for a full Travel report to be posted in this forum around about 4:00 Friday.

Once you get on the gravel

Once you get on the gravel road there will be paper-plate-on-stake signs that will lead the way through the labyrinth of roads!! There's a group heading out early in the am to the course to get it in shape and things set up for a hell of a good time!! see ya there...

~cell coverage at the gas station and then not until you are at the top of the hill at the camping area.

Early Ranch Road Report signals all is good

Just talked to the crew as they were forging the road to the base of the course. Said all is well, except for one squirrelly spot before the first cattle guard. Everything else is pretty much on the dry side.

Nevertheless, some suggested pooling cars at the Norris Gas station, and coming up in. Some said FWD was not totally needed for that one part, but helpful.

Winter Camping is what to be ready for.. just to let you know.

Again, to re-iterate what Cary said, no cell on the way up to the course. But cell coverage while up there.

I'm headed all the way up to pick up Zyzda, right now. Will have more to say after 3:30.

H.O.E.!

Beautiful bright sunny day today, and tomorrow (Thank you Smile will be even brighter.

road report

The dirt road will be especially good for travel in the morning. Reason is that the greasy part will be frozen at that time.

If you are coming in for the day without camping, (I think Cary mentioned that for least car impact), if you can car pool from the gas station with anyone, please do that. Buddy up, rather than automatically having every car up at a the base of the course moving around in a little wetter than normal conditions. ..If/when you can find it convenient to arrange it.

Thanks,
Craig
