Submission for A Tier designation for the 2014 Montana State Championship at Bohart Ranch is in!
I had a couple of inquiries from some players so I thought I would tell everyone.
The date (if approved by the PDGA) will be August 23rd & 24th.
It will be held at the Exquisite Bohart Ranch!!!
Playing Both Courses:
Lower with its brand new concrete Teepads and soon to be brand new Discatcher Pro Baskets!!
Upper with its brand new concrete Teepads and Mach III baskets!!!
The local dedicated tourney crew has been solidifying for some time so we are ready to lay it out for ya'll.
If the date is approved, it will be the week after Worlds so many BIG hitters may be traveling our direction on their way West.
2 World Class Courses!
Fair Fairways and Rough Rough!
Free Camping up in the Mountains!
and so on and so on.....
More info soon.
When can I sign up?
I told ya'll the big dogs were coming!
aren't world's in Portland this year?
Woops, that's a pretty good observation Drew.
What I meant to say is some big dogs maybe heading East. States will be sandwiched in between Worlds(Major)(August 9-16)and Brent Hambrich Memorial(NT)in Ohio on August 30-31.
Oregon to Ohio puts Montana directly in the path!
Total registration will be 144 players on 2 courses.
I wonder if registration is going to be like Zoo Town Open??? Sure would be nice to fill it quick!
Its official - 2014 Montana State Championship in Bozeman will be sanctioned A Tier!!
Only other A Tier in the area is the Challenge at Solitude (once called the full throttle challenge but don't know who the sponsor will be).
Solitude is a bad ass course and a bad ass event but we have TWO bad ass courses for our own Epic event. Plus Bozeman is more on the way to Ohio from Oregon than Utah is.
Expect some serious competition and some serious Payout!
Ron, how can interested folks help out? NEVER too early to get the ball rolling when the plan is a bold one!
Cheers for all the hard work that will be put in between now and next August.
It's a labor of love...but Bohart, loving you...is easy 'cause you're beautiful...
The first meeting of the 2014 Montana State Championship TD Crew went down last week.
Things that we put to bed:
Registration will open 8:00pm on June 1st (Registration fees will be announced shortly).
Open Divisions (Open, Open Women, Open Master and Open Grand masters) will play Lower then Upper on Saturday. Sunday will be 1 round on upper with a final Showcase 9 on lower.
Open Final 9 Will Include: 8 Open, 4 Open Women, 4 Masters, 4 Grand Masters
All AM divisions will play Upper then Lower on Saturday. Sunday will be 1 round on Lower.
8 Advanced players will play a final 9.
The final 9 will be on Lower for all divisions. Holes that will be played will likely be:
1,2,3,5,13,14,16,17,18. This will present solid flow for all groups and also easy access viewing for the crowds.
We will have the same tiers of sponsorship that Zoo Town has (nothing like standing on the shoulders of giants). I will be announcing those figures as well as Registration fees after conferring with Brian.
Fund raising plans are in the works and the crew is meeting every 2 weeks in order to style all of the players with a smooth and fun time.
This event will be an A Tier for the Open Divisions and a B Tier for the AM divisions. This is to make sure that the AMs that are playing that are not PDGA members can get in. AMs that are not current members will be subject to the $10 non member fee to the PDGA.
We will be having a couple of fundraising events at Bohart but have not made the final determination on those dates and costs.
As always, we will have many work days and I will post about this as soon as we dial them in.
Stay tuned for information on how you too can help us to make another great State Championship in the Wonderful State of Montana!!!
This year we will have new Discatcher baskets on Lower. New tee signs, new path signs and with the normal huge amount of volunteer time, a completely polished Disc Golf Facility.
Cant wait to see the Disc Golf family this Spring at The Fling!!
2014 Montana State Championship will be a qualifier for 2015 United States Amateur Disc Golf Championships.
This year, States will occur after 2014 USADGC so qualifiers will be good for 2015.
Open to all Advanced AMs at no fee. If you qualify, you will get a chance to play the fabled Toboggan Course in Michigan.
Toboggan is widely regarded as one of the best courses out there and it is ONLY playable by AMs at USADGCC.
I believe 2014 Spring Fling is a USADGC qualifier for this years tournament - I suggest Advanced players get after it at Fling and States - Toboggan is not to be missed!
Registration for the 2014 Montana State Disc Golf Championship will open Sunday June 1st at 8:00pm.
We will post a flyer on GCF with all the details later in the day.
