Today I received confirmation from the PDGA that the 2009 Montana State Disc Golf Championships have received B-tier sanctioning status. It is listed already on the PDGA site on the PDGA Tour Event Schedule. August 29-30 at Bohart Ranch in Bridger Canyon. If you haven't heard, I did receive permission from the ranch owner to place an additional 9 holes to the already 18 in place. One round of 27 on Saturday, one of 27 Sunday with final 9 in some divisions. More info to come as it develops.

Hey Joe, nope, haven't worked with Chris but his mom told me that he will be the one monitoring the event as she'll be out of town that weekend. I'm sure we'll be working with him shortly after the course opens in mid-June to determine the layout for the additional temporary 9 holes....
(for you BIG ARMS out there...we're planning to make some of the temp holes long ass ones, no way to base your drive, and most likely on a few you won't be able to base your 2nd or maybe even your 3rd shot)
DQ
So holes up to 1200ft. long??? That will take you old men forever to finish. You'll be tired after three holes. J/K. LOL.
I really do want to say something right now, but I think I'll just bite my tongue. I think we'll just see how it goes for ya on Thursday smokey.
I know that shoulder is going to start getting weak. LOL You do know that J/K means just kidding right Scotty. I'm guessing you are getting a little sore at your old age. LOL Just another joke!
.Just a small comment regarding state. I see that the boz crew is planning on having state at BLOWHARD RANCH. Sounds like lazy, lazy, lazy, can't put together another venue? Anywhere? What the F!@#$%^&*()+_}{?><":K? I would sure hope that the boz crew would be a little more responsible and EXCLUDE Jean from anything that resembles Montana Disc Golf. She is nothing but a money hungry what have you done for me lately style of person. Who only seeks to milk money from the disc golfers who want to hold tourneys there. (short term memory loss? why do you think we quit holding events there????????????????????????????????????????) I am now going to consider not going to state for the first time in 15 or so years. Thanks.
doublecyc, it would be nice if once in a great while you would post a positive commment on these forums...........if you miss states, so be it.
I am excited for states at Bohart! I think it will be a great venue for states, especially with an altered course (no reason not to collapse a few shorter existing holes to make sweet long ones, as well...)to make it an appropriate tournament venue. Obviously the management at Bohart has been somewhat difficult to work with in the past but it sounds like that isn't the case for States, and given that it IS a private disc golf course in MT (count 'em on your thumbs), our interest are always better served by continuing to try to develop that relationship in the direction that suits us best, rather than severing the relationship because of past problems and thus limiting any future options that might come up (no matter how unlikely). I am excited for what I am sure will be a great tournament, and I am equally sure the bozeman guys have been working very hard to deliver a great tournament for us all. Can't wait to hear the skinny in a few weeks while soaking at Norris with beer in hand.
Gotta put my 2 cents in, too. The Bozeman guys were trying to have two venues for States, but the FS said no, so they went with just Bohart. I've never actually met Jean, but do remember some of the old issues. (Anyone else remember the tourney that wasn't?? Think it was either 2003 or 2004 Crazy Horse I still wear that shirt with pride to support the effort put forth by Cary).
Seems to me that things are changing for the better at Bohart. Last year's Bohart Open went great!! This year she is allowing the Bozeman guys to expand the course to another section of the HUGE ranch that is Bohart AND she is allowing tournament players to play for free on the Friday before States, so... seems to me the old issues have been resolved. Thanks to Doug and all the Headwaters guys who have worked to resolve them as Bohart is a great place to have an event, especially States!! I'm really looking forward to it!!
I must admit that excluding Jean from all MT DG would be a mistake, maybe give bohart a regular season tourney would be the way to fly. I was so excited to have State back in the boz but to reward bohart with our biggest event of the season and pay for it as well doesn't seem right considering the track record. And it does appear that there is some flexibility but it will just be a bunch of the same old. I would rather play rose park ten times, because of the blood sweat and tears that went into it) than give bohart the satisfaction of having our state championship.
