Just letting you all know that we installed a fun new course in Big Sky. It is in the Meadow Village at the Community Park. We only have 7 Chainstar baskets right now, but we are raising the funds for 18. So the course is done for now, and the holes that don't have baskets have tall orange painted sticks to throw at. There are three pin placements per hole, and the teeboxes and pins have nice rockwork around them with woodchips in the center. We spent almost 2 years getting the permission and initial funds for this course, and we are very proud of it. We will be hosting a tourney on July 4th, at 2pm, and we will have custom discs available for sale. So come on out and check out MT's newest disc course! If you need info on the course, or need a good breakfast lunch or dinner, stop on into the Blue Moon Bakery in the Westfork Meadow, and most anyone in there can direct you to the course, and maybe even show you around. You can also ask questions at the Lone Peak Brewery and have a beer or two, and they can point out the course to you as well. Thanks a ton for supporting disc golf! Jason
Myself and Kirkaldie ventured up to Big Sky on Saturday to try the new course. WOW! Great job Big Sky guys/gals for all the work you have done thus far. The tee boxes are impressive and the looks at drives are excellent, not to mention the Big Sky vistas. If you get a chance to play this 9 hole course you will enjoy it, and it's easy to find and follow.
Nice Job!
Doug reported (and took some pics of) Beautiful scenery and excellent tee pads.
great work.. we look forward to getting up there more.
H.O.E.!
Thanks guys, glad you liked it. Sorry you didn't find the back. The first tee is tough to find, but after that, it's pretty easy to find your way around. I gave a slightly better description on the headwaters site for finding your way around. Our record holder right now is 6 under, with my best being 1 under. So I feel like it's a pretty fair course. Some of you guys are gonna slay it, and probably beat that record, if you can hold it together on 15 and 16, which is where I always lose at least one stroke.
As far as a league goes, we are going to have league night every Sunday night starting next week at 6pm. Meet at the first tee, and we'll figure it out. Probably two or three bucks, with a buck going to the course, and the rest going back. We'll start this week with stroke play, and do that three of four Sundays a month, keeping handicaps and paying people who improve. The fourth Sunday of the month will be something fun like a doubles scramble, or one disc challenge, etc. Those Sundays will be a buck more, but we'll get beer from Lone Peak Brewery to make up for it! So we'll start this Sunday, June 7th! Hope to see you. Jason
So League was canceled last week due to snow and rain. But we're definitely on this Sunday. 6pm.
We ordered two more baskets and unfortunately, they won't be here until August, because Discraft is out of them. Apparently, the economic stimulus is doing well for parks, and disc golf in general. But yeah, come on out, we'd love to have you. And we're ordering signage next week, so that's exciting. Anyways, yeah, course is nice, and new record number is now 7 under, shot by my roommate. I was two under going into 15, and then bogey, bogey, bogey. Frustrating, to say the least.

that is awesome that you got the course in the ground, must feel good to see it thru even if there aren't yet 18 baskets...
can't wait to get back to bzmn this fall and play it sometime- the wife just rolled her eyes when I told her bigsky had a course- she loves it when going to play a round lasts all day
any plans yet for a league- nothing like winning money to entice the casual player into playin more- a handicap league would work well with widely different skillsets...
good on ya for gittin 'er dun
