I went back to my hometown for a family reunion over the past week or so and squeezed out of the fam stuff to place some local courses. I played a tag round with a dozen or so people at the JB Hunt course in Bentonville AR. Nice little 9 hole course that has multiple tee pads that they used to make it 18. Mostly rolling hills in a park setting.
The second course was a reworked course that got trashed in an ice storm last year. It plays around a lake and has multiple water holes. Its mostly flat with mowed fairways and a lot of tall grass as OB on every hole. Pretty nice and a good mix of trees and long shots.
The third course was the nicest with rubber tee pads on concrete with nifty bag holders at every tee. This one was huge with a mix of water and walking paths as OB on every hole. It has a true island with one pin and a tee pad that carried water to about 200 ft. The front nine played in and out of the woods while the back nine must have averaged 500ft with one 1100 footer thrown in for good measure. It was all mowed and played with fairways and tall grass as OB. I don't know if they have named it yet but its in Bella Vista Arkansas and if anyone happened to be in that neck of they woods you should stop. The only downside the day I played it was temperature. It was about 95 degrees and 70 percent humidity.
All in all it was a good trip with some disc golf on the side. I know they have 4 or 5 courses in the works down there and hope to play them some day.
You really need to eat at a place called the Salt Lick in Driftwood. Awesome BBQ, BYOB and live music in a large grove of Live Oaks its a really nice place. The best roadside BBQ was a place called Milts in Kyle Texas. Once again BYOB and the emphasis is on the meat not the sides but you won't care.

I played a few in Austin this week. Steeplechase, Circle C, Round Rock and one I don't know the name of. I haven't made it out to the Circle R private courses but would like to. Circle C is a must play.
I also got to play a course in Dallas which I highly recommend. Lewisville Lake, i think is the name. Very nice.
Man they have a ton of courses and mostly public. They range from park setting to creek bottom and everything in between. Though not a lot in elevation. Some long, some technical and some long and technical. I don't know for sure but I think the average distance per hole would be about 350 maybe a touch longer.
The people have been very nice at every course. Ended up playing a ton of doubles just cause everybody wanted to show us around.
I stopped by the DiscNation store too. They have a driving range right out the back door which was nice.
