Give us some feedback as to what format you would like to see for the Final Bag Tag round. I have three formats in mind:
1) The traditional format of 1 round at Pattee in the morning and 1 round from the blue tees at Blue in the afternoon. It's easy and traditional.
2) 2 rounds at Blue, 1 from the whites and 1 from the Blues
3) 1 round starting about noon or so at Fort Missoula. Would take some work and maybe 1 or 2 people to not play to pull it off. We would not get a permit, so couldn't gaurantee the use of the whole park.
Following whatever format we would use, we will have the Club Potluck Picnic and GCF Awards. Site to be determined. More info on all that soon.
LOL...I just want to be dumb...so #4....We play Winthrop Gold first round...then we hit the Toboggan Course for the last round.
Has there been any thought to little side competitions at the pot luck? Like putting contest and long drive? That would be sweet
And I vote #1
The Final Bag Tag rounds will be on Sunday, Oct 25th. We'll play Pattee in the morning. Tee off at 9:30. Park in the trailhead parking lot and meet at hole 18. We'll play Blue Mtn Blues in the afternoon, tee off at 12:45. As in year's past, all the Tags will be collected prior to Round 1 and will be redistributed with gold numbering for the place you finish for the Final Challenge.
We'll have the potluck picnic and GCF Awards following the second round. More info on that soon.
Just like all our Bag Tag rounds, these will be free rounds and anyone is welcome to come out and play one or both rounds and/or attend the picnic.
The potluck picnic will be held at the elder Shane Anderson's house out in east Missoula. He has a couple of acres overlooking the river that we can set up a couple of baskets and have a good time. The picnic will start at about 5:00 so everyone should have time to run home and get their potluck item ready. This is a family friendly event that anyone is welcome to attend, even if you don't play in either of the rounds.
To get to Shane's house from Missoula, take I-90 east, exit at East Missoula and go left all the way through town and past the Marshall Mountain turn-off. Take the first left after Marshall Mountain on McDowell and Shane's house is the first one on the left (2220 McDowel).
We will have the GCF award ceremony at about 6:00 or so. We will be recognizing the winners of Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, Steady Ed (awarded to whoever plays in the most Thursday night Bag tags), Volunteer of the Year, Sportsperson of the year, GCF Rookie of the Year, and GCF Pro Player of the Year. Any GCF Club member is eligible to vote for the nominated players who will be announced later this week.
Shane's place dog friendly??? Cale is pretty well (super) behaved these days..
I was wondering if Wii Shane is eligible for the Most Improved Player? - being a GCF member but not a bag tag holder.
That's an interesting point that hasn't been brought up before. In the past when I was keeping stats, I only kept them for Club members. Russ has been doing a better job and has kept them for all players even if they're not Club members/Tag holders. So, I would say that if there are stats for a player, and that player is a Club member for both the previous year and the current year, I don't see why not.
I believe that Russ will be finishing up the stats later today and I will announce all the nominees for all the GCF Awards probably tonight.
Just wanted to remind everyone to make it out tomorrow, even if you can only play one round, or if you can't play either round, to make it to the picnic which will start at about 5:00 or so. Look earlier in this thread for directions. This is a family friendly event, so don't be scared to bring the kids or wife/significant other.
Dogs are OK at Shane's place, but they will have to be behaved and will have to remain outside.
Be sure to bring something tasty to the picnic - I'm a growing boy afterall
Shane will have his grill set up if anyone needs to use that.
Shane has a couple of acres and his neighbors are cool enough to allow us to use their yard, too, so bring a basket or two and we'll have some fun. Sounds like Shane has a couple of 50/50 CTP's in mind - 50% of the pot will go to the winner and 50% will go to the Club to help fill it's coffers for next year's events.
We'll be teeing off at 9:30 at Pattee so be sure to be there early!! We'll be collecting the Tags before the first round and handing out GCF awards ballots before the second round. See you tomorrow!!
