I'll be heading out next weekend to pull the pins on the Smith Lake course in Whitefish. Late winter/early spring the state will start removing trees.
To get the course back I'll need to motivate to start a club, raise $500, and get proof of insurance and we can get the course back, plus two more plots of land. I hope to have time to tackle this over the winter. Any prayers or good vibes that can be sent my way are greatly appreciated, I hope it all comes to together this winter.
So the Smith Lake course is now officially closed for good. When things warm up I need to remove the polls, loggers will start work this spring in the course area. Despite still being there, please don't play the course, I am working with the state on some new courses.
I am raising my glass to a very good course, a wonderful example of Montana DG. I am sorry tyo see it go, but thank you for some good rounds and very memorable holes (18 in the dark to lose the Whatzit!).
I just got off phone with State, sounds like we can keep the course open for another 10 to 14 days, and that will be it. Just wanted to let everyone know the situation.

The pins are out, RIP Smith Lake Disc Golf course. Looks like a summer of on no disc golf for us in Whiteifsh.

Good Luck!! The Smith Lake course is one of my favorite casual courses in the state. It would be too bad to see it gone permanently.
