Lily, my dog has been missing since 4pm on Friday. A guy called this morning (Sunday) to say he saw her last night in the south hills and that she was scared and on the move. He couldn't catch her. Anyway if you see her around catch her and give me a call. If she was in the south hills she could end up out at Blue as the sound of chains make her feel warm and fuzzy. So, make sure you are banging the chains extra loud.

Thanks,
Damien

Found but it was CRAP

Below is my letter to the manager of Missoula Animal Control and the story of what happened:

To Ed (manager of Missoula Animal Control),
First let me say that I was in the wrong to allow my licensed dog to run around my yard without her tags. This could have all been avoided had I put her tags on. Second, let me say that I believe your organization is necessary and am fine with paying for it. That being said I currently have some frustrations. My 3-year old Lily got out of my back gate on Friday the 13th of this month. My family immediately called Animal Control, the Human Society, and several radio stations as well as postings on both the Montana and Missoula Craigslist Web sites. On Saturday I called Animal Control again and was told unless the dog was from something like Laurel they didn't have her. I spent all day Saturday riding my bike and posting fliers with her picture on it as well as driving around until the late hours of the night. I did the same on Sunday. Over the weekend I posted 80 fliers from Pattee Canyon to Blue Mountain to Waterworks Hill and all points between. On Monday I left work at 10AM and went to Animal Control with a flier. I walked the kennels and Lily wasn't there and then had the front desk person look at the flier. I told her my location just off of N. Russell. She said she didn't have Lily and that she would call if anything resembling her came in. I then went out and posted more fliers at Fort Missoula, the Bark Park, and the South Hills. I took off work again on Tuesday to keep searching and posting more fliers. When I stopped home I had a voicemail from a woman who said she picked up my dog on Friday and brought her into Animal Control. I asked her if I could e-mail her some pictures and told her that I had called and visited Animal Control and that Animal Control didn't have her. The woman seemed agitated and said she saw my flier and knew it was the dog and that they (Animal Control) better have her because she signed papers. I then went back out to Animal Control and there she was. When I voiced my frustrations with what had happened all I heard back was "It will be $40." I really don't care about the money but to get charged for the extra days really irks me being that I called Friday, Saturday, and went in Monday with pictures. I see Lily had a review date on the 20th of this month. What does that mean? I am strongly considering writing an editorial for the Missoulian to tell this story. I would like an explanation in writing.

Glad to hear that Lily has

Glad to hear that Lily has been found. Thats crap that they had her since Friday though! Hopefully everything will get figured out. Have you asked the lady that found her for a copy of the papers or asked Animal Control about a copy? Mix ups are no big deal, but getting lied to about something like this sucks! But again, its good that she is found!

sure

Perhaps I am a bit overboard. I am going to let it go but man I was heated earlier. Glad I have the third member of my flight back.

not overboard at all

whoa, whoa, whoa...... hold on here. That's really good news you got her back D but, I WOULD NOT LET THAT GO, PERIOD. I'm pretty pissed just thinking about it, so I can only imagine what I would do if it were my dog.

Agreed.That'd enrage me

Agreed.
That'd enrage me easily.

Reveiw date of the 20th.

Means that they were gonna test her on food guarding and other behavoral tests to see if she was adoptable.
Failure leads to lethal injection.
Passing would then lead to spading (if not done), vaccinations, and then put on adoption row for X amount of time (usually around a month).
Failing adoption in X amount of time = lethal injection.

That's humane for ya. Puzzled

Good ta hear I'll be having two sets of paw prints on my cloths, instead of just one set. Tongue Wink
