I have been getting a few messages, so I thought I'd let you all in on it. I have to retire from competitive Disc Golf effective immediately. Just before States, I got a herniated disk in my neck. I didn't know at the time, but it hurt pretty bad. I've been going through Physical therapy and things are getting better. I just can't throw as hard as I did anymore. Hopefully, I can be like Favre and un-retire, but Doc says not likely. So, I will be around, but if I can play next year it will be very casual.
Scott
It's ok Scott, you'll still get more than your fill of DG now that you will have the time and opportunity to get more involved with the administrative, club-running and tourney-running side of things!

That's what I told him, too.

I'd bet that even your casual rounds at Blue, would be in the money at every tourney there for a few more years!
Any idea how did it get herniated? Was it from the game?
Anyway Buddy.. once the State Champ.. forever a member of that club, right on?!
Thanks Craig. Not a DG injury. Doc says most likely old guy syndrome, wear and tear. Possibly the chipped vertibre that I got my senior season at Humboldt didn't help too much either. And yes CD, I will be helping out. Not like I haven't for every tournament that has happened in this town for the last 8 years anyway. It's just a shame that I can't beat that guy who took 59th out of a thousand in the world anymore, dammit anyway. ; ) Slicin' and dicin'. Out
ahh fizzzzle, super bummer news Scott - You are, without a question, one my favorite persons to play with, and hopefully continue to... I have faith in the Favre syndrome!!!!!!!!!!
and damn it, DON"T FORGET YOUR SAFETY MEETINGS!
Smokey the Bear says: Only YOU, can prevent injures (via Safety Meetings)
You have now been elected to "Safety Meeting Leader" .. a proud position, hold it with pride!

Well Scott,I knew it was comming.Sorry about the miss print in the paper,But it wasent me, I for one am going to miss all of the SLICING and DICING; That you have caused in the masters feild in the last five years,You will be truly missed.and I have to agree you are one of the best Golfers to play with, and I agree once a state champion always a state champion, jeff and I will be heading down to Salmon, I really do hope you can come down,it would be good to see you, again you are going to be Missed, I for one am counting on the FAVRE SYNDROME:Hope to see you in SALMON<
Hey Scott, best wishes on a successful recovery, and soon! I've got a lot of that old disc golfer syndrome....knees, hip, back, blah, blah, blah. Some of the "younger" guys we play with sometimes complain about getting old and their pains, at 30 yoa, funny eh? Just wait. Anyway, take care and hope to see you around soon. DQ-HDGC
I have faith you'll make it back eventually, after all 75% of old commander is still better than most. Just take your time recovering/fishing.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing you soon...I guess an Ultimate frisbee comeback is probably out of the question.
