So, in an effort to force me to putt more and to hopefully produce some measurable results, I am going to try and use the following game for practice. Looks like Billings is going to have some weekly competitions based on this game and if anyone else out there is interested it could be fun to compare results and improvements. So, here's the game (It is based on my recollection of "Two in a row or you don't go" in a Johnny Sias article in a DG mag in the past few years).

Scoring for the game is just total number of putts taken. The "course" is a series of 29 stations, starting at 12 feet, then 14', then 16', 18', etc., up to 40', then back to 38', 36', and all the way back down to 12'. So, you hit each station twice except for 40' which you only hit once. You must make 2 putts at each station before advancing to the next station. A perfect score, with no missed putts, would be 58.

Seth and I tried it last night once each we scored a 99 and a 107. So, course record 99, let's beat it!! And if your first try is a 200, there's plenty of room for improvement! I am hoping I see a plummeting average before tourney season starts around again Smile I am about to try on my lunch break...

And unlike the name "two in a row" you don't have to make the 2 putts consecutively, you just have to hit 2 at each station.

Definitely going to try this out! Kind of confused on the two putt rule though. Do you just keep putting until you hit two at one station, and then move to the next?

Yes. So you could make your first putt at a station, miss your next two, make your fourth, and you would have made your two putts at that station and you'd get to move on. Doesn't have to be two consecutive putts made.

I am going to set it up at Wardian Field (aka my backyard) tonight and see what I manage. This could be ugly as my putting has been atrocious in my last few casual rounds. I'll post the result (or maybe not).

Maybe we should have some

Maybe we should have some putting rounds that have a consolation prize for the winner? Like play this game once every day for a week and see who improves most and who has the best score or something like that? And there could be another round every week or two to keep things fresh. Just an idea
