USA just drew a fairly favorable group for the world cup! England is the "seeded" team in our group (world's top Cool, which could be worse, and then we drew Algeria and Slovenia, two of the weaker teams in the tournament! MUUUCH better draw than our draw last world cup, where we were in a "group of death" and had no weak countries at all to play against.

Go USA! (I don't have any fancy graphics to go along with that)

As far as I'm concerned, disc golf and hockey are the only sports that matter.

England soccer

All I can say is that England will beat the US. Sorry to say this but US is no where near the international level. EPL rules! Go Gunners!!!

US is definitely on the

US is definitely on the "international level," just not quite up to snuff with the Englands of the world yet. But on any given day, especially in soccer where one goal can win the game, who knows what can happen! US has plenty of important wins over teams with England's talent or better (Portugal in WC 2002; Spain in last year's confederation cup) in the past decade, and we kicked England's ass in the Revolutionary War. And our goalkeeper, Tim Howard, is way better than any English keeper, by the admission of every England fan out there, and might be able to bail out the team by himself like American keepers have a habit of doing. That said, you are of course right that England has waaaayyyyyyyy more talent than the US (it's not remotely close...we have maybe 3 or 4 field players who would even MAKE the english nat'l team, much less crack the starting line-up), and will be expected by the entire planet to make quick work of us. One thing we definitely agree on: Go Gunners! http://arsenal-mania.com/ And that the EPL rules...it'll be good for Landon Donovan to get his feet wet over there on his Everton loan...hopefully he rips it up and stays over there for the next three or four years despite just signing a new contract with MLS (hopefully, the new contract was just for bargaining power since he'd bring in top dollar for MLS if a european club tried to sign him, but without a new contract, there'd be no $$ for MLS at all if he left).

soccer

Soccer was pretty much my entire life until age 20 when i finally hung up the competitive boots due to injury/discovery of partying...I grew up playing on the Missoula Strikers travel team (along w/ Alex Gignoux, Ben Fleischmann, Matt Sylvester, etc., that's how we all know each other), played on the HS team all 4 yrs, ODP for the MT state team for 2 yrs, 1 yr of competitive college ball (or at least the kids who weren't on the bench like me were competitive), 3 yrs of club college ball, and have been and will be a superfan forever. The end of my competitive DG career will probably coincide w/ the beginning of my kids' competitive soccer careers (they have no choice on the matter...drills, windsprints and weightlifting starting at age 3, or no dinner).

MT soccer is a great scene, there are travel teams from all the cities that go all over the place. When we were growing up our team played all over the country and even tournaments in england and denmark, and we did pretty darn well for the size of the player pool we had to draw from...i remember for our MT state team we had like 35 kids try out, and one time when we were beating the nevada state team in the regional ODP tourney a kid on the other team was complaining to me that they "only" had like 250 kids try out. It was sweet, that ODP tourney was the first one that Landon Donovan hit the big time at! He didn't make his Northern Cal state team and came as a filler, alternate player, but then scored a million goals and made 'em take notice! We were 15 at the time, and it's fair to say he's progressed pretty well since then.

The Epl

The EPL is great this year other than Man UTD are not at the top of the league right now... but they usually aren't at this time in the season. Hasn't stopped them from winning the league the last 3 times.
Landon Donovan will be playing for Everton on a loan deal starting in January. It will be good to see another American in the EPL. Pretty Cool

hell with man u

Man U.....No comment.....

Should be a great WC. I think England and the US will make it out of that pool. From there on in the knock out stage it is anyone's game. Look for the host team S. Africa to be strong. Host countries always are. Look at past WC's.

Sucks my other favorite team Newcastle got regulated in the EPL....WOW!!! They will be back.

Been to 2 games in England. Saw Arsenal vs Chelsea and Queens Park vs Nottingham Forrest. Have also been to Sweden and saw the top swedish club team play (no where near EPL). And been to Denmark and saw FC Coppenhaguen(sp) play. They were good and are usually in the Champions League tourney.

Now some of you know might know how my son got his name.....

GO GUNNERS!!!
