The GCF Club will be hosting a PDGA C-tier tourney at the new course in Hotsprings called Knucknees Basin on March 27. The owners of the property want people to get up there and check out the course and hotsprings and are allowing us to hold this fundraising event for the ZTO without a user fee. The Rec and Adv Women's divisions will not be sanctioned.

As the permanent course is only 9 holes, we will be installing 4 more temp holes to make a 13 hole course. We will play 2 rounds of 14 holes. There will be a very short break in between the 1st and 2nd rounds and a longer lunch break following the 2nd round.

There will be free camping available. Still working out the details for soaking in the hotsprings and a possible lunch. More details soon, but put this on your calendar and get some early season rated rounds!

Entry Fees

Open and Open Masters $45
Adv Am and Open Women $35
The above entry fees include a $5 fundraising fee. PDGA members in the above divisions may deduct $10 from that entry fee.

Rec/Novice and Adv Women $15
The above entry fee does not include a fundraising fee or PDGA sanctioning

I really wish I could play

I really wish I could play this one but already have plans for that weekend. I have to go to the District10/Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting for 3 days. It will be nice to become smarter as a professional but I'd rather be playing some disc golf Puzzled I did, however, post this information on the www.northidahodiscgolf.com website.

More info about the Knucknees Open

Here is some more info for the first event to be held at the Knucknees Basin course in Hotsprings, the Knucknees Open a PDGA C-tier event. As the course is a 9 hole permanent course, in order to get ratings from the PDGA, the owners have added 5 more holes to make it a 14 hole course for the event. These holes may become permanent. Free camping is available and that is the weekend of the full moon, so that is always fun!! Firewood will be provided. The hotspring pools will be closed to the public at 7:00 PM on both nights, but will be open to tourney participants until midnight. The cost to soak will be $5. A hotdog lunch will be served following the first round.

Entry Fees

Open and Open Masters $45
Adv Am and Open Women $35
The above entry fees include a $5 fundraising fee for the ZTO.
PDGA members in the above divisions may deduct $10 from the above entry fee.

Recreational/Novice Men and Amateur Women $15
The above entry fee does not include a fundraising fee or PDGA sanctioning

$1 Acepot for those interested

PDGA sanctioning will be offered for only the Open Men, Open Masters, Open Women, and Adv Am divisions.

Registration should be available through this site in the next couple of days.

Friday nite
4:00 - dark - Player Registration
5:00 - Random Draw Dubs $5

Saturday
8:00 - 9:45 - Registration
10:00 - Player's Meeting
10:15 - 1st round Shotgun Start
Lunch to follow round 1
1:30 - approximate start time for round 2
4:30 - approximate start for the Final 7
6:00 - Awards ceremony

We are asking all players to bring an old disc or two to donate to the course. These discs will be used as "loaners" to local kids who want to learn to play the game, but don't have access to discs, so please keep this in mind when selecting what disc s to donate.

There are a few other fun things going on as well. The owners have put up a $100 bounty for anyone who aces hole 13. It is a 545' downhill shot that is reachable.

They are also offering free soaking and course privileges for the 2010 year for the winner of the Walter Fredrick Morrison Award for the person who best exemplifies the spirit of the game for the day (shows the best sportsmanship/has the most fun). The winner will be determined by a vote by the players.

If there is the motivation, and daylight, there could be a random draw dubs round Saturday evening, too.

There will be live music at 2 of the bars downtown (just 6 blocks from the course) on Saturday nite and the pools will be open till midnight at the course so there's lots going after the event, too.

If possible, please bring a basket with when you come. The owners are improving the homemade baskets at the course, but they are still a little less than what is expected for a tournament.

Brian, if you can send me a flyer I'll print it and post it at Rapid Fire Plastics in Post Falls. It will get more eyes on it there than anywhere else around here.

Change in format

Snuck up and played Knucknees yesterday. Sure was nice!!!! Green grass and soaking in some of the highest mineral content hotsprings in the world does wonders for the soul!

After playing the new layout of 13 holes, we will be changing the format for the event up a little bit. We will now be playing 2 rounds of 14 holes with a Final 7 for just the top 2 cards of Open and the top card in Adv Men rather than 3 rounds of 13 holes. We will play the first round from the short tees and the 2nd round from the long tees. The Finals will have a few safari holes, but will mostly be the same long tees. These holes will be easily viewed from one location, so it should be very spectator friendly.

Don't worry about being shorted any golf. The long tees will play about as many strokes as a regular 18 hole round would, and the short tees will still be very challenging.

Sorry for any inconveniences.

please

Bob, can you edit the flyer to include the changes in my post above? A few changes in the start time to let everyone sleep in/soak in the hotsprings a little longer and that there will be two rounds of 14 holes instead of 3 of 13. And there will be a Final 7 for the top 2 Open cards and the top Adv Men card. Thanks!!!

Directions to Knucknees

To get to the course from Missoula, head north on 93 towards Polson and turn left (west) on HWY 200. After about 20 miles take a right at Perma on HWY 382 towards Hotsprings (there is a sign) - if you get to Plains, you went too far. After about 20 miles, take a right at the T intersection on HWY 28. After just a couple of miles, you'll come to "The Y" gas station on your left. Take a left just after that on HWY 77 (Hotsprings Rd) towards Hotsprings (there are signs). Follow HWY 77 (Hotsprings Rd) about a mile and a half to the edge of the town of Hotsprings and take a right on Camas Rd. Go one block and take a left on North Rd. Look for the entrance to Camas Hotsprings on your right. Once on the property, take a right at the first Y (left will bring you to the hotsprings and cabins) and park next to the gate. Hole 1 is just a short walk from there. It takes about an hour and 20 minutes - the way I drive, I'm sure you can make it faster - to make it to the course, so think about leaving Missoula around 8:45 - 9:00.

For you folks over in the CDA/Post Falls area, Hotsprings is only a little over 2 hrs away. Take I-90 east and exit at St Regis. Head north on HWY 135 for about 20 miles till you get to HWY 200. Take a right on HWY 200 and go about 10 miles till you get to Perma and take a left on HWY 382. Then follow the same directions as above. Remember that you will lose an hour heading east, so start an hr earlier than you think you need to.

Can masters play a final

Can masters play a final seven, top card or top 5 or something (if we have 5!)? Having played the course it is just a bunch of roc and aviar shots, I'm sure our old arms can go the distance of an extra 7.
