I was just checking the Beaver State Fling website and it is finally getting updated for the 2010 BSF. The registration dates are posted, opening on March 1st for the Pros and March 15th for the Ams. I'm stoked to hit this up! From what I hear its an awesome tournament!

There is something like 180

There is something like 180 spots for the Open field and 144 for the Am field. Seems like plenty of spots if you're online when they open reg Wink This is an NT so the Rules exam must be completed for pros to compete.

Open or Am?

Open will be easier to get into, as the Am side will fill IMMEDIATELY. Seriously, all 144 or whatever Am spots will be gone in under an hour, and the server will be crashing during that hour. This is a "start clicking as the clock hits 11:59:59" type of tournament on the Am side. Even the pro side will fill in under a day and maybe in two or three hours. I played the BSF as an Am a few years ago and can vouch for the Am field being really awesome down there...PLENTY of competition, really great and talented golfers from around the NW and California that you can't believe aren't playing open 'cause they sure would be in Montana, and a big-tourney atmosphere without any pros whining incessantly about their round (I mean, I know I will need to give my card plenty of cheese to go with my whine). The Advanced field is strong and deep and undoubtedly will have a sweet payout in schwag for those MT golfers who play up to their potential, whereas the Pro side will be tough to cash in no matter who you are (I mean, this IS a national tour event). Another side benefit of playing Ams is getting to watch the super-pros a bit as they slice and dice one of the sweetest courses in the world, because everyone you want to watch will be there. I think Pros do get to play one more round (they have in the past) so that's a plus, and of course playing Pro always gets you a shot at randomly getting flighted out with one of the top guns in the first round, if you don't play your way into their group for the rest of the tourney. The other consideration is that the pro registration opens first, and if you don't get into the Am side then there's no option of the pro side as a fallback plan, unfortunately...

To answer both Drew and Bob's

To answer both Drew and Bob's questions, I'm playing Adv. So I'll be busy on the 15th, ha ha. And I think that the Open field do get to play one round the day before the Ams start.

Fling!!!

Glad to hear MT is gonna be having a strong turnout this year. Last year was frickin sweet!(except for the round scores Big smile ) Registration went insanely quick last year so be ready at your computer with credit card in hand. I'm not sure who i'll be cruising with yet, but we can all coordinate on that later. As for camping, you couldn't ask for better spots. 10 mins from course and hot showers that are open 24 hours.
