Bad news for pioneer park. Last night the city council voted 8-2 to accept a new master plan for pioneer park, they also voted to amend the original master plan to exclude disc golf. Ther was alot of pressure from local residents and alot of nonsensical rhetoric. We have roughly a year to take pioneer park out and as of yet we dont have a " legal" place to put them. Worse yet there was alot of discussion about the X and how the same rules should apply. WE NEED YOUR HELP ON THIS ONE. anyone who cares about the future of disc golf in billings or disc golf in Monana are encouraged to let the city council know how they feel. I for one am appalled. the story can be read about here www.billingsgazette.com and the city council can be emailed at the adress below. Seriously, we need some help.
Everyone take the 5 minutes to explain the reasons for not removing the courses in Billings. council@ci.billings.mt.us
Let them know what they can expect, Renegade Courses, hidden areas that can not be patrolled, and issues with other neighborhoods that will complain. Let them know this sport is not going away. They need the course's as much as the players do. If we don't do anything we can expect alot more negative towards DG because they don't understand what is up, and Dave you took the time to paste a link, why not send it to them. This is just the issue that causes more problems by not saying or doing anything and then complaining about it later when its too late. Lets rally together (and that means everyone, even the guests that visit.) and try and get the message out that DISC GOLF IS HERE TO STAY!!!!
put my 2-cents in...
Exactly, what we need is action. There is a glimmer of hope in all of this, If we can get one city council member to reconsider their vote it will go back to discussion. the next meeting is Monday the 28th of june. There needs to be a huge amount of public outcry leading up to this meeting. we also need to FLOOD the council chambers with disc golfers. If anyone makes the trip to speak they will be greeted with all the booze they can drink courtesy of airfairways as well as deluxe accomodations
lets get those emails out!!!!
heres a link to see the e-mails sent to the city council and thanks to everyone who have already voiced an opinion.
Dave I sent the link to Seth so he could present it to the city council. I could have sent the link to the council itself but it looks better when a disc golfer uses it to anchor their arguement for keeping the courses.
What a shame. I love Pioneer. This will be a big step in the wrong direction for the city that's trying to turn into a metropolis.
The s$#t storm of e-mails that have been sent to the council members are starting to change some minds, especially when many of the senders are mentioning this influencing the way they are going to vote in the next election.
Also starting to turn possibly even more heads is the Facebook page Save Disc Golf in Pioneer Park, since its creation less than two days ago more than 1,700 people have joined!!!!!! I'll post some links to newspaper articles, but you might have to copy paste.

Holy sh!&, this thing just blew the F- up!!!
Amazing what people can do when they work together. anyone who isnt following this needs to start now. Jim and I just met with the people who started the facebook page and this thing is starting to look prety positive. We will have shirts and possibly discs for people who turn out for the city council meeting on the 28th of june. there will be a time for the public to speak to the city council as well as an ultimate game on the courthouse lawn. My offer still stands for people who make the trip.

You should present this to them....
