The GCF Club will be hosting the Northern Rockies Challenge this year at the Knucknees Basin course in Hotsprings on Oct 23 and 24. This will be a 1 day C-tier event for individual play on Sat, Oct 23. More info on that coming soon...
Sunday will consist of head-to-head match play format for team competition only.
There will be a team from MT and Alberta for sure in attendence and there has been a lot of interest from Washington and BC players, so this could be the biggest team event yet in the histroy of the NRC. Team play will consist of players earning points for their team based on their performance during Saturday's competition and players will also be seeded based on their Saturday performance for the Sunday match play.
Sunday will be head to head match play format for Team play only. Players will be seeded based on their Saturday performance (the MT Open player who finishes best in relation to other MT team players on Sat will be MT #1, the MT player who finishes second best will be MT #2, etc...) Matches will be 9 holes long and will have the #1 seeds play against each other, the #2 seeds will play against each other etc... for a maximum of 27 holes played on Sunday.
Teams will consist of 4 Open players, 2 Masters, 1 Grandmaster, and 1 Women. The team entry fee will be $400.
I will be the Captain for Team Montana and will be choosing the team based LOOSELY on the Final MT Points for 2010. Other factors, such as desire to play and availability will also be considered.
More info coming soon...
I am really interested in this. Teams can be from anywhere right? Does their state of residence matter here? Just curious because I would be interested in either playing on a WA team (if anyone wanted me) or possibly persuing a North Idaho Team. I will have to run this by my wife but sounds like a fun format. Work will make it tough though, hmmmmm......
Scott, I'm heading up the Washington team, and keeping it within Wa. boundaries. Do you live in Post Falls?
I've already got a few feelers out and a couple of commitments, so it looks good for us having a team, Brian.
I'm basing my criteria loosely on player rating, and team compatibility, and personal integrity, and my self-centered desire to win this thing.
I want to thank Brian for choosing me to head the Washington Team. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I was the only one from Washington to show up at the Bohart Event. (hehe)
Yes, teams should be made up of players from within that state. Scott, see if you can get a team from Idaho. I would think that a few players from "down south" would be interested in a DG vacation/late season tourney, or if not, anyone is welcome to play the tournament on Sat.
Alberta will have a team for sure and sounds promising for a team from BC, too.
More info regarding lodging and other fun activities planned for that weekend will be posted next week.
Sounds interesting, Scott lets talk about this some more. Jack B is senior GM,he maybe interested(or Southern Idaho?) Gibbs, Fish, Locke, for open. Ladies?????
Jordan from Boise sounded interested, and maybe Gregg Bukleman is interested in the GM spot?
Bukelman now lives is Salt lake City, Ut. So no GB for team Idaho .
I live in Spokane Valley but do most stuff with the Recreators of North Idaho.
Seems like because you are from Post Falls, pretty much live there, and primarily play there you should definitely get a team together with Idaho. Could there be a Dan Gibbs sighting?
Booooooooooo Dan Gibbs! He would most likely quit the team for some dumb a** reason, i wish we could count on that guy?
